Summer Lab Beauty 2.0
WFH or in-person, a comfortable style gives us one less thing to have anxiety about. Summer heat doesn’t help keep up professional appearances, so here are a few essentials that get me through.

Face
Embracing my internal heat with an inner glow. 100% Pure All Over Glow is a fave because pomegranate is a primary ingredient and aloe makes using it as a moisturizing primer feel light. This is meant for the body, but I use it on my face. Both pomegranate and aloe have a lot of H20, so this gives an incandesce without actually being an overheated midday western blot.
SPF
Spray protected without obliterating makeup during lawn lunches and walks with sunblock or sunscreen. I’m keeping Supergoop Re-setting SPF 40 mist on my sundrenched desk for this Nerd Girl Summer. The peppermint smell is great, but the white cast from spraying too close is no secret.
Lips
Summer isn’t the time for a 90’s matte brick lip, so keep it hydrated and with a light gloss or tint. The Hermes lip oil uses sandalwood as a base for all colors, but the Corail Bigarade adds the fragrance of Seville orange to complement the subtle coral hue. I’m definitely loving this.
Hair
A scalp massage keeps me cool and calm with focus over the summer heat. Amla, an Ayurvedic staple, helps with hair fall. Pratima Brahmi hair oil has been my go-to for over 13 years because it imparts a healthy glow without leaving hair greasy for a research talk. I have gone 2 pandemic years with no haircut and no split ends. Just saying.
