The Fall Beauty Look Returns to the Super 90’s

Every generation goes retro. For the girls of the 90’s it was all about discovering the 60’s. The beauty savants of today are seeking out what the decade of 1990 had to offer. Supermodel big Velcro hair or grunge unwashed hair? The makeup department was bit more straightforward with matte looks from eyes to face.

Lips

If you want to do the 90’s right, you must realize that it’s all about lip liner. Chanel natural lip liner for day and Chanel plum lipliner for evening. Nude (5) was the pick years ago, but Chanel has a variety of nude lipliners now. Nude Brun is an updated good replacement. Vamp used to be the sold-out-in-seconds color, but Rouge Noir is beautiful for today’s nod to the 90’s. These do not require additional lipstick or gloss.

Eyes

A simple lining of the eyes that’s almost but not quite cat-eye using a pen format. The top lash only with a line that is not too thick and thins out as it reaches the inner corner of the eye. Tom Ford’s black ink eyeliner is the best I have used. They made the Pen Liner with two widths for precision application.

Tidbit: black eyeliner, or kajal, was traditionally worn in Hindu culture to ward off evil eye. This was especially true for newborns.

Face

Like lip liner, the face was all about face powder. For a 90’s look, you can go without foundation, but not without a face powder. Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder compact is perfect for a subtle matte updated look.
