Wear What Where Summer: Hamptons Edition
This season we are dressed for the Hamptons. Long days on the beach, sunset dining and festive socializing.
Nobody wants to take luggage that is fit for an international tour. Agonizing over what to pack and wear defeats the purpose. Time off is supposed to be relaxed from the get-go., so let us help you prevent cortisol levels from unnecessarily rising.
The method is to take looks from day to night by keeping it simple. The Magazine’s Fashionable $cience is rooted in effortless change-ups. This why the focus remains on making the most of Summer in a breeze.
Here is our Wear What Where for weekend trips to the Hamptons this Summer.
THE $CIENCE
All you need is a pair of reliably chic jeans, a go-to dress and sand-friendly duos. Building on these basics makes packing and the trip easier. Note that the links provided are suggestions for attire. These or similar items are more likely to exist in any wardrobe. For example, our EIC has had J Crew white jeans forever, but a different style from the one currently offered by the company. The point is to provide a guide of what to pack instead of buying a bunch of stuff.
Pair white jeans with tank tops in black or navy. Top it off with a neutral cardigan when needed. Our EIC usually wears this on the drive over to the Hamptons and to her mandatory first stop- Round Swamp Farm.
Accessorizing with a buttery tote, large sunglasses and either sandals or sneakers is versatile. Our EIC switches up between Comme des Garçons Play Converse and Pierre Hardy sandals. The former is readily available, but the PH Alpha Capri strappy slides are the closet to the pair she wears. The yellow, black and white compliment looks for casual poolside benefits and East Hampton shopping.
We would be remiss without a sunhat. A large white and black sunhat adds old Hollywood glamour to both a sunny day shopping and eating, as well as a day at the beach. Eugenia Kim makes the loveliest hats with sun protection of up to 30 (UPF).
Everyone owns and needs a black dress. Not too tight, not too frumpy, but Goldie Locks just right. This linen J Crew dress is a just-in-case item for those impromptu party invites. The fun part of summer in the Hamptons is that dressing is elegant, but not overly serious. So, no ball gowns here. Our EIC also packs her brown Row Emmy dress that she has had forever. This easy style goes from morning chilled teas on the beach to lunch in Amagansett. The Row does not make that style anymore, but Farissa and Ebby are similar.
Swimming essentials include a Rick Owens not-so-basic black swimsuit. Our EIC has a similar one to the style shown here and it has lasted forever. Cover up with jeans and a tank or a bit of whimsy. The JW Anderson swim trunks paired with their logo tank top will transport anyone from Olympic Beach to Montauk Brewing Co for a Watermelon Session Ale.
Again, neutral tans, blacks and navy’s are staples to work around. Adding the splash of color with the PH yellow sandals is a perfect Dosha Dressing technique.
A critical Dosha Dressing method is to use personalized color schemes. To support individual strengths and prevent pernicious deficiencies, add touches of color using beauty and accessories. The Hermes Spring-Summer nails are ideal for a weekend away (nail polish story here). Anyone who knows our EIC understands the power of her sock collection. JW Anderson’s three-pack suits every doshic mood. The Magazine also favors sprucing up any look with scarves. Hermes makes smaller versions for fun-size travel and wear (scarf story here).
Our EIC in example looks from J. Crew, JW Anderson, The Row, Hermes and Comme de Garçons
