Dosha Dressing Fall/Winter: Cognitively Enclothed to De-Inflame

Seasons change and moods transform.

so, let us revamp our outfits to reflect our seasonal awareness.

This Fall feels monochromatic.

Pitta needs to cool down her mind and body after a sultry Summer. Vata and Kapha get to embrace these cooler seasons. Head-to-toe beige, blue and grey speak volumes about personal energetics taking over a fresh time of year.

This Dosha Dressing installment for Fall can be carried into Winter with a few color additions and heavier fabrics. Pops of color homogenize daily ensembles to reflect the season and positively influence cognitive potential. Real red, Autumn-esque burgundy and sweet-sixteen pink support doha-centric spirits.

Outfits worn by Tilda Swinton and Meryl Streep stress the beauty of monochrome fashion. A pop of color used strategically makes a statement. The $cience

Summer is Pitta season and prompts inflammatory responses due to constant exposure to high heat. In addition to diet, herbs and a wellness routine, Dosha Dressing supports calming residual or low-level inflammation.

Though traditional scientific and medical training has long-regarded inflammation as the body’s way of healing, Ayurveda understands it to be pathological. Ayurveda recognizes inflammation as a response to high heat that has the potential to cause immune dysfunction at the cellular level. The Pitta energetics in all of us tends to prioritize aspirations over wellbeing. This includes preoccupation with Summer vacation and physique goals. In this sense, the mind initiates the inflammatory process.

The period between the last 3 weeks of Summer and the first day of Autumn is when inflammation is speechless. The physical effects are experienced when high-level inflammation is reached through the microcirculatory system.

We all have Pitta at some quantity. As such, the extent of inflammation depends on one’s leading Dosha. Pitta dominant constitutions will have the highest responses while Kapha will have the lowest.

Choosing outfits for both body and mind, or Dosha Dressing, is the simplest method to incorporate on a daily basis for lowering aggressive inflammatory response. It also helps the brain function in a way that increases confidence and community.

Though the foundation of these looks is monochromatic, options for pops of color are provided. A study found that uniqueness increased image and proficiency in the eyes of others. Take this as a go-ahead to opt for fire-engine red booties or pink gloves.

Pitta Cools Off in Beige

Pitta has a big heart. Sometimes the over-caring results in anger-linked hypertension. The inflammation of the cardiovascular system can lead to strokes, heart disease, and ulcers. Incorporating a 4-day workweek, sheetali breathing, and muted colors can assist in the de-inflammation process.

Look 1: This entire look comprises selected items from The Row. Each item is definitively beautiful and appropriate for the office and dinner. A day-to-night change of shoes is not required here, but beige or red heels would be a lovely switch up for warmer days and cocktail hour (Figure 1 and Look 3).

The Row Malika Cashmere Coat $6,250 (Camel)

The Row Lilibet Wool and Silk Dress $4,250 (Ivory)

The Row Awar Leather Knee Boot $4,200 (Fawn)

The Row Soft Margaux 15 Leather Bag $4,390 (Dark Taupe)

Pitta is happy that everyone is done vacationing and ready to get working again. She has projects piled her than sand dunes. That is a positive in this female-founder-hyped society. Pitta femmes can come off as too demanding. Blah! Until the heatwave aftereffects cool off, beiges tap into their compassionate side. Beautiful caramel boots, draped tops, and structured accessories are ideal for not slipping during that Fall stride.

Look 2: This blouse brings softness to this Pitta-minimal look. A change of shoes from walkable loafers to sturdy heels is an option. The bag is also moderately slouchy to promote relaxation without losing drive.

Figure 2: Beige works beautifully with bright red, grey and wine.

Vata Grounds in Blue

Stress-prone Vata increases GBA dysfunction. Commonly, anxiety-linked inflammation manifests into insomnia-induced IBS. Take the edge off this domino effect by planning outfits, practicing alternate nostril pranayama, and prioritizing sleep.

Look 4: The Row offers a range of blues that can be layered for transitional weather- Summer to Fall, Fall to Winter. The Cady Pant relaxes the otherwise buttoned-up outfit, which tones down low-level anxiety.

The Row Hailey Virgin Wool and Cashmere Coat $4,990 (Dark Navy)

The Row Gala Cady Pant $1,090 (Navy)

The Row Metis Cotton Shirt $1,090 (Sky Blue)

The Row Hege Cashmere and Silk Sweater $2,550 (Bright Blue)

Blues harness imaginative energy and fear of new beginnings is razed with the sand castles. Deep navy’s pair with electric sapphires, while flats and kitten heels keep Vata close to Earth. Pencil skirts and snug knit dresses compliment her graceful frame.

Since Winter is primarily Vata season, we want to soften any end-of-year fears and promote organization. These structured pieces pair well with flowing blush and pink when her mood is grounded and mind is focused.

Figure 4: Use deep blue as a grounding staple and mix it up with brighter blues, pink and maroon.

Kapha Mellows in Grey

Kapha-prone weight gain can develop into the low-grade inflammation we recognize as obesity. This is exacerbated by a pro-inflammatory diet, which increases depression due to responses from microglia. Kapha can reduce inflammation of tissues with a metabolically challenging exercise early in the morning. Let’s walk to work or lunch in flats!

Look 8: The dark greys are balanced with a lighter chambray and 3/4-length sleeves. Moccasins, Hangisi flats and Tod's keep this look close to Kapha Earth (Figure 5, Looks 9 and 12).

The Row Eric Silk Coat $7,250 (Army Grey)

The Row Lonan Silk Pant $1,820 (Army Grey)

The Row Hevos Cashmere Turtleneck $1,950 (Chambray Melange)

The Row Soft Margaux 17 Leather Bag $5,890 (Koala Grey)

The dark days of winter have not yet befallen. Kapha’s mellowness meshes with the bright days of Autumn. Before the big chill, she can enjoy an array of beautifully complimentary grays.

A sleek asymmetric charcoal dress carries her from daytime meetings to evening dinners.

Lighter grays for skirts, blazers and heels offer mood boosts when downcast Wednesday’s hit.

Look 10: A light grey flirty skirt keeps the day spirited. Pair this with BB pumps, a blue sandal or an oxblood open-toe heel (Look 11, 6, and Figure 7).

Proenza Schouler Archer Wool Twill Suiting Jacket $1,890 (Smoke)

Proenza Schouler Margo Gauzy Jersey Skirt $890 (Pale Grey)

The Row Filippa Cashmere Top $1,490 (Medium Grey)

Proenza Schouler Split Tote $1,690 (Light Grey)

Look 12: Dark charcoal is the prototype that communicates 'I'm here for business'. Something that soft Kapha needs more of. Add the blazer or bag from Look 10 to light it up, or the wool pumps from Figure 5 to add height.

The Row Harlette Cashmere Sweater $2,250 (Dark Grey Melange)

Proenza Schouler Aida Brushed Melange Wool Skirt $1,490 (Charcoal Melange)

Tod's Gommino Bubble Suede Loafers $695 (Grey)

Figure 6: Grey's pair beautifully with pink and bordeaux.

Add a touch of Bordeaux to complement Kapha’s motherly attributes.
