Karma… Wait For It

“Karma” gets thrown around like “genius”. The gravity of the concept can be complicating due to its profoundness. Greater understanding of karmic energy may facilitate understanding between humans.

Diwali celebrates winning the fight over darkness, or evil. It is a time to remember that the light, or good, will lead the way to better futures. The future, after all, is dependent on the efforts of this moment. Those efforts in the form of actions, words and thoughts, accumulate into personal karma. And, it takes lifetimes to materialize.

Epics like the 7th century Ramayana characterize morals and ethics during times of privilege and hardship, war and peace. A major message is that eradicating external and internal sources of malevolence is a daily battle. The choices made in those efforts are reflected in later developments.

Two major events, exile and war, illustrate how fate and choices decide the future of would-be King Rama. Rama realized that part of the reason for his exile was animosity he created toward the person who instigated his fate. Although Rama unwittingly caused distress when he was a kid, it was irrelevant to the energy expelled. The other explanation entailed his destiny to annihilate the lord of the demons, Ravana. Rama’s wife Sita was initially blamed for instigated a war between Rama and Ravana. But, it became clear that her actions were part of Rama’s destiny to restore natural order. Fact or fiction, the ancient parables are lessons in conduct.

Science

The effect of every action is defined in Isaac Newton’s third law of motion. An equal and opposite reaction is created per action. This maintains order and is how jets soar.

Bottom Line

Fighting darkness can often denote an internal foe. Like saying “karma is a bitch”? Well, rejoicing in an adversary’s downfall is a negative intention, thus adding to the detractor’s karmic energy. Impartiality serves as a guiding light. This allows the creation of more favorable outcomes and conditions. It certainly does not mean perfect lives to come, but at least the negative forces will be mitigated.
